The Prom:

A favourite pastime for Galweigans and visitors alike is walking along the Salthill Prom, the seaside promenade running from the edge of the city along Salthill overlooking Galway Bay with bars, restaurants and hotels. Local tradition dictates ‘kicking the wall’ across from the diving boards a 30-45 minute stroll from town before turning around. Kicking the wall is a tradition from the 1930’s signalling that you have completed the walk.

Galway Golf Club:

Galway Golf Club has long been recognised as possessing one of the finest courses in the country. Indeed, in the year 2002, it once again played host to the Bulmers sponsored All-Ireland Cups and Shields finals. This excellent parkland course is centrally located in Salthill, just three miles from Galway City Centre. It has a magnificent new clubhouse (with full catering facilities) which boasts panoramic views of Galway Bay and the Burren from its elevated site. The Club has a proud and distinguished history dating back to its inception in 1895. During this period, the club has collected many honours and its members have represented the Club at the highest levels.

Leisureland:

Leisureland is a leisure facility for all the family. Treats include a Treasure Cove with pirate ship, water cannons, serpents and bubbly pool. There is a 65m water slide and 25m swimming pool. There are three swimming pools which are open all year round. Try the thrilling 65m Waterslide; have fun on the Pirate Ship “Misty Dawn”; enjoy the new interactive water features in the Leisure Pool. An Inflatable Fun Run is operated in the main pool on certain days. Leisureland has an Outdoor Amusement Park (Easter-September), and its newest attraction “Inflatable City” (open during Holiday Periods) which gives hours of Bounce ‘n’ Fun for 3 to 12 year olds. Leisureland also has a Poolside Restaurant and Shops. There are also video and car machines on offer here as well as a few gaming machines. Situated beside the pool are the concert hall, the cafe and Perk’s Funfair, so it’s the perfect pitstop if you fancy getting out of the sun. It also acts as one of the largest venues in Galway at the moment with seating for 1,000. At Leisureland Funworld Salthill you can now enjoy the best of both the traditional carnival and the modern theme park experience. Our outdoor funfair is open from Easter onwards and is in full swing during July and August. The Leisureland Funworld theme park has a poolside restaurant which caters for all tastes at reasonable prices.

Galway Atlantaquaria:

Galway Atlantaquaria, National Aquarium of Ireland is Irelands largest aquarium and one of the West of Irelands premier attractions. Children will learn about the wonderful array of animals that live on our planet, they will discover what makes them special, how they have evolved and how they survive from day to day. It is home to 170 marine and freshwater species. Highlights include seahorses, friendly rays, sharks and an enormous skeleton of a Fin Whale.The Aquarium offers a truly hands-on experience, and visitors can hold starfish or spiny spider crab in the palm of their hands, help feed hundreds of hungry fish, and explore an underwater world in a model submarine. Other attractions include the Lighthouse Gift Shop, Arabica Coffee House and the Royal Villa Restaurant.

Pierce Stadium:

The new Stadium which was completed in May 2003 has a capacity of 34,000 and includes a 8,000 seater stand, 4 spacious dressing rooms, two warm-up areas, a medical room and state of the art press rooms.In recent years it has also hosted a number of concerts including Bochelli, Bryan Adams and Bob Dylan. In 2006 the International Series versus Australia was played in Pearse Stadium which was the first time it took place outside GAA Headquarter Croke Park.
